Bell Lax were instructed on a dispute between members of an LLP in a medium sized firm of solicitors.
All of the members of the LLP, including Bell Lax’s client, agreed that it would be best for Bell Lax’s client to leave. However, the remaining members were initially unwilling to offer Bell Lax’s client a fair price for his interest in the LLP.
One particular problem was that the personal relationship between the two senior members of the LLP (one of whom was Bell Lax’s client) had broken down, and they were barely on speaking terms.
This necessitated a sensitive handling of the matter, while pushing for the best possible outcome for Bell Lax’s client.
This matter settled at mediation on confidential terms and Bell Lax’s client went his separate way from the firm. He now successfully runs his own firm.
