Accountants negligence - missed VAT time limit

Business people are good at running their own business and expect their accountants to be good at theirs. Unfortunately, Bell Lax’s client discovered his accountants failed to appeal his VAT assessment in time which meant the client could not dispute the VAT claimed. Acting under a ‘no win, no fee’ agreement, Bell Lax successfully persuaded the Judge that our client would not have paid any VAT if his accountants had lodged the appeal in time. Our client would not have been able to pursue his claim without a ‘no win, no fee’ agreement because his accountant’s negligence meant his working capital went to the VAT man.
